Jupiter, 2018
8 panels, oil on recycled surfaces and found objects; 55” x 78.5”
Project begun as an artist-in-residence at Jacques-Rousseau High School in Longueuil, Quebec, and completed in my studio. The panels were culled from recycled surfaces and found objects, including a bat box. Themes of impermanence, transformation, regeneration and continuity are suggested by the choice of painted images and their placement within a circular composition. The planet Jupiter, whose mythology includes these same cyclical themes, is visible only through an evocation of its possible effects.
